The Los Angeles County Public Works Department will require a Transportation Impact Analysis for projects that satisfy any of the following criteria:
- For Development Projects: These are projects that are expected to result in a net increase of 110 or more daily vehicle trips.
- For Transportation Projects: These are projects that will probably encourage more vehicle miles traveled (VMT) by increasing vehicle capacity.
- Projects that must undergo a Transportation Impact Analysis due to County ordinances, regulations, resolutions, court orders, or directives from the Board of Supervisors or Regional Planning Commission.
The purpose of a Transportation Impact Analysis is to evaluate and predict the impacts or deficiencies that the project will create in the circulation system. The analysis should also propose viable solutions or mitigations to counteract any negative impacts or deficiencies.
To conduct a Transportation Impact Analysis, a Professional Engineer registered in the State of California to practice Traffic or Civil Engineering must lead and sign off on the report.
