A traffic signal warrant analysis should be conducted for all unsignalized study intersections for both the project's opening year (if applicable) and build-out year conditions. This analysis should use the latest edition of the California MUTCD and be included in the study appendices.
When determining the location of a new traffic signal on an arterial street or approaching an arterial street, traffic progression and simulation analysis may be required. This analysis should be performed using Synchro/Sim Traffic software or an equivalent tool as directed by the Traffic Division.
